Northern Cardinal 43

 

While not too many birds are similar to the Northern Cardinal perhaps the Pyrrhuloxia (no I didn't invent the spelling), is the closest.  The Pyrrhuloxia  is a bird of the Southwest with a somewhat similar appearence to the Northern Cardinal.  It also has a very similar song.  The Phrrhuloxia are not all-red birds, as are the Northern Cardinals, they are actually gray with only touches of red on their wings, tails and crests.
